WhatsApp keeps releasing new features to make the app more user friendly for its users. The firm is constantly working on new features and one of them includes adding support for multiple devices. This multiple device support feature has now been spotted in the development phase again.
The feature has been spotted by WABetaInfo who states, “WhatsApp is currently working on a new feature that allows to use the same account on different devices at the same time: so you will be able to use your account on your main Android phone and tablet as well”. It further added that “WhatsApp is giving a lot of priorities to this feature, bringing many improvements in every update. Being under development, these changes are not visible publicly”.
Now, currently, it’s not possible for users to stay logged in on multiple devices on their WhatsApp account. They get logged out from the account on one of the devices if they have signed into their account on multiple devices.
If a person logs into WhatsApp on another device, a message is displayed, saying, “the encryption key has changed”. As a part of the newly spotted feature in beta, different event messages are displayed stating “security code has changed […] due to logging in or out of multiple devices. The feature is currently only in the development phase and there aren’t any details as to when it’ll be officially released.
WhatsApp has also released its latest WhatsApp update v2.20.40 which is available to download and can be found on the app store. As a part of WhatsApp v2.20.40, users can easily access their contacts from the share sheet suggestions. This makes it easier for users to directly share content with contacts directly from Instagram, web, or from any other apps.
